FSA Panel Discussion at CES January 9, 2008

Innovation occurs so rapidly in the consumer electronics (CE) industry that keeping up can leave you breathless. And it’s not just new product launches—well-established products are constantly evolving, so what’s a technophile to do? This dynamic conference session will provide the critical information you need to understand how the industry, markets and consumers will be affected by new and improved technologies.

Consumer electronics is a significant volume growth driver for the semiconductor industry. Traditional product development dynamics unique to the semiconductor industry may not be well understood or valued by consumer electronics firms facing their own unique set of market imperatives. While the goals of semiconductor vendors and CE OEMs are not necessarily in conflict, they may be misaligned for success — for either party.

This panel will leverage a joint survey and report collaboration between FSA, CEA and KPMG.  The panel will discuss the key metrics driving product development behavior with both semiconductor and CE companies, and will explore how semiconductor companies and CE OEMs can better partner to improve time-to-market and product quality.  The final report will be provided to FSA & CEA members and KPMG contacts.
