Brani Buric

Virage Logic

As Virage Logic's Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Brani Buric is responsible for driving the company's global marketing and sales operations. In this role, in addition to leading the company's strategic market initiatives, he is responsible for developing and managing the company's strategic partner relationships to further establish Virage Logic as the semiconductor industry's trusted IP partner. Prior to his current role, Buric served as Executive Vice President of Marketing where he led the company's marketing strategy. Prior to that, Buric held a variety of other roles including Vice President of Product Marketing, Senior Director of Strategic Business Solutions and Senior Director of Business Development and IP Platform Marketing.

Prior to joining Virage Logic in May 2002 as a result of the acquisition of In-Chip Systems Incorporated, Buric served as In-Chip Systems' Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. Prior to joining In-Chip Systems in 2000, Buric held senior management positions in marketing, business development and applications engineering with Sycon Design, Avant!, Meta Software, Mentor Graphics and Silicon Complier Systems. Before moving into the EDA industry with Silicon Compiler Systems in 1987, Buric held engineering and product management positions with Burroughs.

Buric holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Belgrade.

Dr. Charles Hsu

Dr. Hsu received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the National Tsing-Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C., a M.S. and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He published over 200 patents and 120 papers in Semiconductor device area.

Prior to joining the company, he served as researcher at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center from1987 until 1992. He also joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, NTHU in 1992, and then became a Professor in 1996. He was the director of Tzu-Chiang Institute, Incubation Center, and Chairman of Institute of Electronics Engineering, NTHU from 1998 to 2000.

Charles Ching-Hsiang Hsu is the President of eMemory Technology Inc., which is a leading embedded NVM technology and IP provider. eMemory has published 216 patents. There are over 250 companies who have implemented our technologies and intellectual properties (IP) worldwide. To date, 982,924 wafers have been fabricated with 95% covered by worldwide foundries. In 2008, eMemory received the Industrial Technology Advancement Awards and National Invention and Creation Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Frankwell Lin

Mr. Lin received a B.S. in Electrophysics from National Chiao-Tung University (NCTU), Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, R.O.C., a M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Portland State University.

Prior to jointly found the company, he served as Application Engineer, Product Marketing Engineer, Product Planner mainly for consumer and telecom chips in United Microelectronics Corporation from 1983 to 1986. He also served as Marketing Manager and Sales Manager at UMC from 1988 to 1995, during this period, he mostly involved in computer peripheral chips, PC chip sets, and CPU products marketing and sales. For 1995 to 1998, he was stationed at Amsterdam, heading UMC Europe branch office, also lead sales and promotion activities of UMC foundry at Europe. He transferred to Faraday Technology Corporation, and stayed at Faraday from 1998 to 2006. During this period of time, he worked as senior management at Faraday, heading a few divisions, including but varying from ASIC Sales, IP Sales, Overseas Sales, ASIC Implementation Service, ASIC Production Service, Marketing, IR, and Display BU, etc. When he left Faraday in 2006, he was Vice President of Faraday.

Frankwell Jyh-Ming Lin is now President of Andes Technology Corporation since 2006. Andes is a fables design house focusing on AndesCore™ 32 bit RISC CPU series developing and promotion. To do this job, it developed from the scratch AndeStar™ 32 bit RISC CPU instruction architecture, several series AndesCore™ 32 bit RISC CPU cores, AndeSight™ and AndESLive™ developing platforms for tool chains and ESL virtual environment, AndeShape™ hardware development platform including platform SoC, AndeSoft™ supporting software for AndesCore™ based micro-system. Andes keep providing all these solution by IP business model to SoC design organizations for their SoC development. In 2007, Andes received Golden Penguin Award from Ministry of Economic Affairs due to its outstanding efficiency and performance in developing Andes platforms that runs Linux so well. In addition to work in the company, Frankwell also helped to organize and found Taiwan Embedded Industry Association (TEIA) in 2008, and act as its Vice Chairman since then. TEIA's main job is to promote and create better life for software and hardware companies working on embedded system industry.

Dr. Nicky Lu

As chief executive, researcher, design architect, and entrepreneur, Dr. Nicky Lu has dedicated his career to the worldwide IC design and semiconductor industry. He is the Founder and CEO of Etron since 1991, and co-founded several other high-tech companies, which are now public. Dr. Lu received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University and M.S. and Ph.D. in EE from Stanford University. He worked for the IBM won numerous IBM recognition awards, including an IBM Corporate Award. He holds over 24 U.S. patents and has published more than 50 technical papers.

Dr. Lu was elected to be a Fellow of IEEE, awarded the IEEE Solid State Circuits Field Award, and honored with the membership of National Academy of Engineering of the United States. Dr. Lu also serves as Managing Board Director of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA).

Paul M. Saraceni

Paul Saraceni joined RPX Corporation as Chief IP Officer in September 2008, bringing 15+ years of intellectual property law experience, from both the private practice and in-house counsel perspectives. RPX is a defensive patent aggregation company with a business model designed to help technology-focused companies reduce their patent assertion and litigation costs and risks. RPX is funded by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Charles Rivers Ventures.

Immediately prior to joining RPX, Mr. Saraceni was Vice President and Associate General Counsel, IP Strategy & Transactions, of Yahoo! Inc., where he developed and managed Yahoo!'s patent acquisition program, led and negotiated strategic IP deals, patent licensing transactions, and IP aspects of M&A deals and business and technology transactions. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Mr. Saraceni was Senior IP Counsel for the Technology & Manufacturing Group of Intel Corporation, responsible for leading that business unit's IP strategy and negotiations, including patent cross licenses and defense of patent assertions. Before moving in-house, he was a partner in the Silicon Valley IP boutique law firm of Derwin & Siegel, where his practice focused on patent transactions, due diligence, prosecution, and IP strategy for technology start-ups. Previously, Mr. Saraceni was a patent litigation attorney in the Silicon Valley office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he represented international high tech companies (including semiconductor, semiconductor equipment, and software companies) in patent infringement cases before U.S. Federal Courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission. Mr. Saraceni holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Bucknell University, an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was a Notes Editor of the North Carolina Law Review. He is a registered Patent Attorney before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and a member of the state bars of California and Texas.

Dr. Alan P. Su

Alan P. Su received his bachelor degree in computer science from Chung-Yuan Christian University in 1986. After working as a system analyst with CMS (now EDS Taiwan), he went to the States and received M.S. degree from University of Missouri Rolla in 1994 and doctorate from University of California Riverside in 1998. Between 1998 and 2002 he worked for EEsof, Hewlett-Packard Company, later spun off to become Agilent, to develop a DSP Synthesis tool and other Electronic System Level (ESL) tools. In 2003 he returned to Taiwan and joined SoC Technology Center, ITRI to conduct several ESL projects in tool development, SoC designing and design methodologies. While remained as a consultant with ITRI, in April 2006 he joined SpringSoft, Inc. to lead the development of ESL tools. In August 2008 he joined Global Unichip Corp. to develop ESL development boards as platforms to provide ESL design services.

Dr. Su involves in various ESL standardization efforts. He is a member of OSCI Transaction Level Modeling (TLM) Working Group, Synthesis Working Group, Configuration, Control and Inspection Working Group, Language Working Group and OCP-IP Debug Working Group. He is also the Chair of ESL Working Group, Taiwan SoC Consortium since October 2008.

Dr. Su's research interest includes distributed and parallel computing, leakage current minimization, 3D IC and ESL verification, synthesis, debug, testing and design methodologies.

Dr. Jeremy Wang

Dr. Jeremy WangAsia-Pacific Executive Director

Dr. Wang brings to GSA with his broad experiences in global management & operation, strategic planning, research & technology development, customer services, fund raising and venture investment. He plays a vital role in leading the effort of executing the formation and operation of GSA Asia-Pacific. In this role, Dr. Wang oversees all aspects of managing GSA's presence in the region with two regional offices in Beijing and Taipei. Dr. Wang is responsible for working with key executives in Asia to encourage their membership and participation with GSA, promoting a unified and global voice for the semiconductor industry. He also manages the Asia-Pacific Leadership Council, consisting of leading Asian Fabless/Semiconductor executives from Taiwan, China and Korea, responsible for determining the direction and organization of GSA's Asian presence.

Dr. Kuo Wu, PhD

Dr. Kuo Wu, PhDDirector, Design Infrastructure Business Development Program

Dr. Kuo Wu is the Director of Marketing at TSMC and is currently responsible for Design Infrastructure Business Development Program. Kuo received his BS, MS and PhD all in Computer Science from Tamkang University, UC Berkeley and UCLA respectively.

Dr. Wu started his career as a VLSI designer at Xerox Corporation where he helped engineer the first Ethernet controller SoC. Subsequently, he spent most of his career in the EDA industry where he served in various technical management and business executive positions in EDA companies including Silicon Compilers, Meta Software, TSSI, Summit Design, Ambit Design, Cadence and Magma.

Dr. Wu was the co-founder and president of Elite HT Ltd., an OA product company, where he created a product from inception to production and won a nomination for the Best of Comdex Award. He has published over a dozen technical papers, holds several US patents and was once an invited professor of Electrical Engineering at University of Southern California.
