Kilopass Technology, Inc. is a leading supplier of embedded non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), that delivers one-time programmable (OTP) and many-time programmable (MTP) memory in standard logic CMOS processes. The company has 58 patents granted or pending. Divided into three groups of fundamental bit cells: 1T, 2T, and 3.5T, Kilopass issued patents enable OTP NVM IP in standard CMOS processes. Kilopass NVM IP cores have shipped in over 800,000 wafers from a dozen foundries and Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDM). The company has more than 150 customers in applications from storage of firmware and security codes to calibration data and other application-critical information.
Kilopass eXtra Permanent Memory (XPM) product is a field programmable memory that provides high security, large capacity in a small footprint, and low active and standby power. XPM is used to store calibration, trimming, and configuration data including chip ID or turning features on and off as well as encryption keys for digital rights management. Kilopass Gusto NVM IP offers up to 4Mb for secure code storage applications. Kilopass has ported XPM and Gusto IP to over 40 processes at pure play foundries and IDMs. Kilopass' Itera NVM IP can provide MTP endurance up to 1024 cycles in storage capacities up to 1Mb in 28nm.
Kilopasss new Vertical Cross-point Memory (VCM) bit cell is a breakthrough technology that quadruples memory capacity over todays antifuse NVM bit cell technology for embedding non-volatile data in system-on-chip (SoC) products. The VCM bit cell technology differs from that of the current Kilopass NVM IP, which requires a lateral selection transistor in planar (X-Y) directions to form memory bits. The VCM bit cell technology uses one single P-MOS transistor to both store and control the memory content. This compaction method reduces the footprint of the single bit cell from about 75 F2 for Kilopass' current XPM memory to 12 F2 for VCM memory, where each F describes a manufacturable feature.
