GSA has created several deliverables that address industry concerns in wafer manufacturing such as the Wafer Fabrication & Back-End Pricing Survey/Report. The author of this Survey/Report - the Supply Chain Performance Working Group - is the manufacturing portal's premier working group focused on opening up the lines of communication between the fabless/fab-lite community and key suppliers, specifically foundry and back-end partners, on topics of mutual interest and benefit.

Supply Chain Performance Working Group

Purpose

The Supply-Chain Performance Working Group's mission is to open up the lines of communication between the fabless/fab-lite community and key suppliers, specifically foundry and back-end partners, on topics of mutual interest and benefit.

Initiatives

GSA Wafer Fabrication & Back-End Pricing Survey/Report – The Working Group is working to further improve and revise the current Survey and Report. Modifications are made to the Survey and Report on a quarterly basis.

Supply Chain Practices Survey/Report – The Working Group is working to distribute a survey and report that will help semiconductor companies gain valuable insights, trends and benchmarks to assess their supply chain maturity against the median and the best-in-class population. These insights will enable them take supply chain improvement initiatives that will help unlock the business value that is trapped within their supply chain.

Deliverables

GSA Wafer Fabrication & Back-End Pricing Survey – The GSA Wafer Fabrication & Back-End Pricing Survey is a quarterly survey that asks fabless companies and integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) how much they are paying for outsourced wafers. The Survey results not only provide quantitative data reflecting business trends, but also defines key trends in technologies and markets. Fabless companies, IDMs and suppliers derive benefits from the Survey data in preparing themselves for future business.

Wafer Fabrication & Back-End Pricing Report - Includes a written analysis of the Survey results; interactive online results showing rolling average wafer prices, mask set prices and assembly prices for four consecutive quarters; and a downloadable MS Access database of all online results.

“The GSA Supply Chain Performance Working Group has worked to continue to improve the data set for the Wafer & Back-End Pricing Survey/Report. The report and query capability has shown to be a very useful benchmark data set for pricing trends and estimated costs. The data can help companies calibrate on their relative costs vs market trends." – Dan Wark, VP of Operations, Amalfi Semiconductor & GSA Supply Chain Performance Working Group Chairman
