Dr. Craig Barratt
President, and Chief Executive Officer
Atheros Communications
Dr. Barratt has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Atheros since March 2003, and as a director on the company’s Board since May 2003. Dr. Barratt had previously served as Atheros’ Vice President of Technology from April 2002 until March 2003.
Prior to joining Atheros, Dr. Barratt served in a variety of positions for ArrayComm, Inc., from September 1992 to March 2002. Dr. Barratt held a number of positions from 1992 to 2002 with ArrayComm, Inc., a wireless technology company. His roles with the company included Executive Vice President and General Manager.
Dr. Barratt holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Science degrees from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in pure mathematics and physics from Sydney University in Australia.
Dr. Chi-Foon Chan
President and Chief Operating Officer,
Synopsys, Inc.
Dr. Chan is President and Chief Operating Officer for Synopsys. As such, Dr. Chan exercises full global responsibility for driving the broad range of efforts required to manage the company's internal operations and worldwide field organization.
He joined Synopsys in 1990 as Vice President of Applications and Services. Dr. Chan has served as Senior Vice President, Design Tools Group, with responsibility for the business group structure that has continued to grow Synopsys’ core EDA business into a principal market position. As General Manager, DesignWare Operations, he initiated Synopsys’ IP program. He also served as Vice President, Engineering, and as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Field Organization, where he advanced global expansion into India, Ireland, and China. In January 1997, he was promoted to his current position of Chief Operating Officer, adding the title of President in May 1998, at which time he joined the Synopsys Board of Directors.
Previously, at NEC Corporation, Dr. Chan was General Manager of the microprocessor group, responsible for marketing all NEC microprocessor devices in North America. Prior to NEC, Dr. Chan was an engineering manager at Intel Corporation.
Dr. Chan serves on the Board of Directors for the Hong Kong Silicon Valley advisory group HKSV.COM. He is an Industry Fellow of ISQED and he is also a Visiting Professor of Peking University.
Dr. Chan was born in Taiwan, raised in Hong Kong, and moved to the United States in 1968. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
Warren East
Chief Executive Officer,
ARM
East joined ARM in 1994 to set up ARM's consulting business. He was Vice President, Business Operations from February 1998. In October 2000 he was appointed to the Board as Chief Operating Officer and in October 2001 was appointed Chief Executive Officer. Before joining ARM he was with Texas Instruments. He is a chartered engineer, FIEE, a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering. He is a non-executive director of Reciva Limited and of De La Rue plc.
Warren holds an MA from Oxford University in Engineering Science and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
Dr. C. Y. Lu
Chairman, Ardentec,
President, Macronix International Co.
Dr. Lu has been a professor in National Chiao-Tung University and with AT&T Bell Labs from 1984-1989. He later joined ERSO/ITRI in 1989 as a Deputy General Director responsible for the MOEA grand Submicron Project. This project successfully developed Taiwan's first 8-inch manufacturing technology with high density DRAM/SRAM. He was therefore granted the highest honor prize--National Science & Technology Achievement Award by the Prime Minister of ROC, due to his leadership and achievement in this Submicron Project.
In 1994, Dr. Lu became the co-founder of Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation, which is a spin-off memory IC Company from ITRI’s Submicron Project. He was the VP of Operations, VP of R&D, and later President from 1994-99. Dr. Lu now serves as the Chairman and CEO of Ardentec Corp. a VLSI testing service company, and also as Senior VP/CTO and President Macronix International. Dr. Lu led MXIC’s technology development team to successfully achieve the state of the art nonvolatile memory technology, and he is now responsible for MXIC’s overall operation.
Dr. Lu has published more than 200 papers and has been granted 130 worldwide patents, was elected a Fellow of IEEE, and a Fellow of APS. He has received an IEEE Millennium Medal, and the most prestige semiconductor R&D Award in Taiwan from Pan Wen Yuan Foundation.
Dr. Lu received a B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1972, and a Ph.D. in physics from Columbia University, NYC, in 1977.
Dr. Rick Tsai
Chief Executive Officer,
TSMC
Dr. Tsai has been President and Chief Executive Officer of TSMC since July 1, 2005. He maintains TSMC Chairman, Dr. Morris Chang’s values and business philosophy and continues to lead the company forward.
Dr. Tsai joined TSMC in 1989 and served as Fab Director. He took the post of Vice President in charge of operations for Fabs 3 and 4 in 1995 and was later promoted to Executive Vice President of Operations, responsible for all TSMC fabrication plants as well as quality assurance and testing services. Dr. Tsai next served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing before assuming duties as President and Chief Operating Officer in 2001. He also worked as President of Vanguard International Semiconductor from 1999 to 2000, helping the TSMC affiliate with its transition from commodity memory to specialty IC foundry services.
Prior to joining TSMC, Dr. Tsai worked for Hewlett-Packard in Ft. Collins, Colorado, from 1981 to1989 in roles such as R&D project manager, manufacturing engineering project manager, and as a member of the technical staff.
Dr. Tsai is an Executive Board Director of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA).
Dr. Tsai received his B.A. degree of science in physics from National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan in 1973 and received a Ph.D. degree in material science and engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. in 1981.
