Who is Carbice?
Carbice has developed a novel Carbice Nanotube Technology, based on aligned carbon nanotubes covalently bonded to an aluminium core, called Carbice Nanotubes, offering unprecedented characteristics that are changing the face of technology. Carbon nanotubes were first found in Damascus steel from the 17th century. It’s only now that their ground-breaking properties have been harnessed, affordably, and at scale.
Carbice’s first application is a Thermal Interface Material (TIM), a vital engineering component for developing technology. Without a TIM, our computers would overheat, electric vehicles (EVs) wouldn’t make it to the supermarket without bursting into flames, and satellites couldn’t send signals strong enough to reach earth. Why it’s such a big deal
From mobile phones to laptops, to satellites and rocket ships, TIMs allow vital technology to operate without blowing up or melting down. As technology becomes smaller and more sophisticated, the operating heat emitted from the product has limited space to dissipate.
Previous TIMs may have too low thermal conductivity or too high thermal resistance, or simply be too painful to use. Furthermore, there are complicated thermal-mechanical changes happening at the interface during cycling, making conventional TIMs degrade over time, compromising devices’ performance, and shortening their lifespan. It all sums to a very poor user experience.
