The semiconductor industry is undergoing a radical transformation that demands new thinking. These changes underway include consolidation—which has reduced the number of big players, but conversely has unleashed a dynamic environment for entrepreneurs.  Defining what company is a semiconductor company has become more difficult as those traditional companies increasingly offering software, solutions and services. And companies that have historically been systems companies are actively designing hardware.  The blurring of the lines between semiconductors, software, services, solutions and systems means mobilizing an expanded ecosystem. The value chain has changed. The business models are evolving because of the unique demands and unprecedented opportunities presented by emerging markets AI, IoT, Automotive, Cloud and 5G.

“The radical transformation of the industry demands new thinking and accordingly the GSA will expand its vision to encompass a more comprehensive value chain. “
